Kenya - Kamuyu Farmers / Washed

Pomegrenate, Plum, Bright
On the southwest slopes of Mount Kenya in Nyeri County, the Kamuyu Coffee Factory brings together around 552 smallholder farmers who grow coffee on small family plots alongside crops like maize, beans, and tea. At 1,675 meters above sea level, the region’s rich red soils and cool climate help the cherries mature slowly, creating the bright, complex profiles Kenya is known for. Farmers deliver their ripe cherries to the factory where they’re carefully washed, fermented, and sun-dried on raised beds.
We work with Mercanta to source and import coffees like this, connecting these producers with roasters and drinkers around the world.
